The staff of Godfrey Group has partnered with the producers and a multitude of skilled volunteers on the reality TV  show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”  to build a home dedicated to homeless veteran women and their families in Fayetteville, N.C.  First Lady Michelle Obama added her support for the project with a visit during the production. The show is scheduled to air in October. The Godfrey Group contributed creative design,  millwork, graphics,  theme props and labor to the project. With all design and production under one roof, Godfrey was a natural fit for “Extreme Makeover ” show.

Glenn Godfrey, President of Godfrey Group, described the project activity  as “controlled chaos,  much like images of a beehive where workers rush thru the hive, and often bump into each other before moving on. Yet everyone remained cordial and focused on their respective tasks, all to complete in one week a home that would normally take four months to build. It was like experiencing a time lapse scene from the inside. Our crew was focused on completing  a series of décor elements and each time we looked up other elements  seemed to appear magically as they were completed by other builders and production volunteers.

“It was an honor to work with the talented group of producers who organized the Chaos. It was equally gratifying to work with the skilled and creative companies who donated their time and materials. The Extreme Makeover project was an extreme  challenge for our staff to produce within the time frame. Actually, it was also a lot of fun for our crew to be engaged in such a worthwhile cause.

Until we became involved with this project, I had no idea of the number of dedicated people needed to complete each show.  An average of 2,500 volunteers are needed for each project. I have the feeling there were many more working on this one”.

The Emmy award winning reality show airs Sundays at 8 pm on ABC. An average of 10 million viewers see each show. Additionally the show is viewed in 185 countries in 58 languages across the world. The show was awarded the “most positive show in the world” by the United Nations. The Fayetteville show is expected to air this Fall on ABC.

The Godfrey Group, a Gallo company, provides design, fabrication, graphics and installation services for trade show events, company and retail environments.  Godfrey Group is located at 4102 S. Miami Blvd, Durham, NC. and www.godfreygroup.com.

The reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” is entering its 9th season and is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding.
